The Best Way to Help The Unhoused, Homeless.

Our best resource for getting assistance to those living on our streets, in vehicles and/or near freeways is using www.LA-HOP.org. You can submit a request and typically within 48 hours, a team is dispatched to the location. These teams bring resources, services and options to those needing assistance.
When submitting the request, include as many details as possible. If there are any suspected mental health issues, please specify that in the request so mental health specialists will be deployed.
We Have Two Choices.

To Report or Not To Report. Graffiti impacts all of our neighborhoods. It is now a choice. We can report as soon as we see it or we can leave it & hope someone else reports it.
Typically, when graffiti is reported in the morning, it is removed the same day.
Listed below are the ways to report Graffiti for each jurisdiction. If you haven’t reported graffiti or other issues, give it a try, we promise you’ll see how simple & easy it is.

Coffee with LAPD & Other Happenings

March was a busy month for the Chamber of Commerce. We participated in Coffee with LAPD on Tuesday, March 28th at 711 located on Figueroa & El Segundo Blvd in the heart of Harbor Gateway North. Representatives from Mayor Bass’ office, Councilmember Tim McOsker’s office, Athens Park Concerned Citizens, and Officers from LAPD Southeast met with community members. If you are interested in hosting, Coffee with Law Enforcement, please let us know.
Saturday, March 25th, the first annual Clean California Day took place in Harbor Gateway with Caltrans. This partnership brought bulky item dumpsters for the community to bring unwanted treasurers and simply dispose of them. Students from Environmental Charter Middle School, Gardena High School, Gardena Elementary School, the Boys & Girls Club, and Keystone Club Members came together to clean up our beloved Gardena Blvd. Our partners at the City of Gardena had staff helping us clean up the Blvd as well.
Congratulations City of Gardena…

Thursday, March 30th, Mayor Tasha Credo gave her State of the City Update. The Nakaoka Community Center was packed with excited stakeholders, elected City Council Members and Mayors from the Cities of Carson, Compton, and Hawthorne.
Our partnership with the City of Gardena started back in 2018 with meetings held on Gardena Blvd to address the concerns impacting both sides of the Blvd. These meetings helped forge a strong bond between Harbor Gateway North and the City of Gardena.
Neighborhood Council Elections and Why They Matter To You?

Neighborhood Councils are the closest form of government to the people. They are advisory bodies, who advocate for their communities with City Hall & the local Council Office on important issues like development, homelessness, emergency preparedness and chronic issues impacting the safety of the neighborhoods.
There are 99 Neighborhood Councils representing each community within the City of Los Angeles. There are two neighborhood councils representing the community of Harbor Gateway. Harbor Gateway North has a boundary from the 91 Freeway to 111th Street between the East side of Vermont to the West side of Figueroa Street. To complicate the boundaries, the East Side of Figueroa starting Compton Blvd heading north, the first 30 feet belong to the City of Los Angeles and the remaining area belongs to the County of Los Angeles. This creates confusion for nearly every business along the East side of Figueroa.
Another RV Fire & One Prevented….

On Monday, an early morning RV fire hit Redondo Beach Blvd near Figueroa Street. The RV contained oxygen tanks, which exploded as the firefighters were attempting to extinguish the blaze.
As a Chamber of Commerce, we have been actively working with every available agency to get additional resources into the business corridors. We began working with Fox11 last month. We have 4 new segments coming in the next two weeks. Fox News National will be out next week to begin enlightening the nation on the issues plaguing our Unincorporated Areas.
Our second fire was on Broadway near Compton Blvd. It started as a trash fire and spread to a nearby RV. Firefighters were on scene quick and prevented it from further spreading.
Open To Everyone.
