Federal Government Is Now Involved

Our recent segment with Fox11 garnered the attention of the federal government. We have been working with the Department of Justice Environmental Crimes Unit. With their help, we are beginning to see immediate changes in the Unincorporated LA County Area & Harbor Gateway.
What We Are Reporting Daily

See It, Report It. That is what we are doing daily. From blocked fire hydrants, graffiti, illegal dumping, hanging shoes, abandoned vehicles and burnt infrastructure, it is being reported multiple times a day.

We Brought The Homeless Outreach Providers To Our Area.

Homelessness affects us all, it isn’t someone else’s problem.Homelessness is a growing problem, and it’s impacting our children, youth and environment; besides our businesses and its employees. It has caused a wave throughout our community. Every request that is made adds a “DOT” to a map identifying the location and sending resources to the area. […]
Exclusive Look: Into LA County’s Largest Homeless RV Encampment

We brought Hailey Winslow from FOX11 news to help us showcase the dangerous conditions existing throughout the Unincorporated LA County areas of East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez, Willowbrook and Compton. Blocked Fire Hydrants from RV’s parked in front of them to garden hoses attached to them are making our areas even more dangerous. Six burned RV’s and 2 burned passenger vehicles have been sitting on many of our streets for months with no plans for removal. Since the airing of the first segment, all the burned RV’s have been removed.
We are on the streets every day working hard to ensure resources are being brought to those living on the streets. As a reminder, we need your help with reporting the issues impacting your businesses.
Vehicle Fires Are Becoming A Daily Occurrence

Sunday, February 26th, our area experienced three RV fires in a 12 hour period. Firefighters had issues with accessing fire hydrants at two of the fires. No one was injured in these fires.
Monday, February 27th, a vehicle was set on fire on Redondo Beach Blvd & Avalon.
Thursday, March 2nd, an RV was set on fire on Broadway near Alondra.
Wednesday, March 8th, another RV was set on fire on Broadway near 157th.
Cleaning Up Our Business Corridors

Last week, we began cleaning up our business corridors. Main Street between Compton Blvd & Rosecrans and Spring & Lennon were to two locations which were cleared out. With the help of LASD HOST team, LAHSA and HOPICS, anyone living in these locations were offered services, resources and housing.
With the assistance from Compton Sheriff Parking Enforcement, nonworking, abandoned vehicles were removed from the area. As a reminder, anyone living in a vehicle cannot be towed or removed from a public street due to COVID restrictions. Our area is struggling with the issues created from these vehicles. Vehicles blocking fire hydrants has created a safety risk for all of us. Unfortunately, there is very little that can be done to remove them.
Extraordinary Efforts Are Bringing Every Available Resource to Our Unincorporated LA County Areas…

One month ago, we reached out to every homeless outreach service provider in the South Bay to provide assistance with the 65+ children living in the RV’s along the Broadway Corridor. That initial outreach brought resources from the City of Los Angeles, City of Gardena and outside area Service Providers. This was the first time a joint outreach had been attempted in the Unincorporated LA County Areas of East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez, Willowbrook and Compton.
Agencies work within their Service Planning Areas (also referred to as SPA’s). These areas have very specific boundaries and often times, the areas are serviced by different agencies. As an example, Figueroa is the dividing line between SPA 6 & SPA 8. When an unhoused individual simply crosses from one side of the street to the other, they become part of the new area. In the past, this has created a black hole for the homeless. Now, agencies are working more closely to ensure this is no longer happening.
