Why Requesting Homeless Outreach Is Important.

When a request for homeless outreach is submitted, teams are deployed typically within 48 hours. As the teams visit the locations, they area able to assess the immediate issues and request additional assistance. During today’s outreach, we identified an abandoned RV and were able to have it removed from the area.

Submit your requests daily. It will generate additional resources to the reported location and the process begins. Individuals may not accept the help immediately. However, it is the start of the relationship.

The New Standard.

Two weeks ago, three areas were cleaned up by the LASD HOST team, LA County Public Works and Compton Sheriff Parking Enforcement. The area has remained clear and is the new standard we are working to create throughout the East Gardena/West Rancho Dominguez area. This will take time and work. It will involve every business […]

Our Commitment To Getting Resources To Our Homeless.

“We See You”

“We Have Services For You”

Everyday.

Three months ago, we reached out to homeless outreach service providers from the entire South Bay to assist with the 450+ RV’s and individuals living on the sidewalks throughout the East Gardena/West Rancho Dominguez area. From the first outreach, we realized we needed to start a regular collaborative outreach. Every other Wednesday, you will see teams along the Broadway corridor and throughout Harbor Gateway visiting each RV and following up with their clients.

Our Community Engagement.

Harbor Gateway South Neighborhood Council is now hosting in-person meetings at Halldale Elementary School on the 2nd Thursday of each month. These meetings provide stakeholders the opportunity to discuss current issues & concerns with elected leaders. During this meeting, we met various community leaders like John Davis from Avalon Gardens Community Association, Del Amo Action Committee, Bob Ruth from the Enclave, representatives from Caltrans, Assemblymember Mike Gibson’s office, Congresswoman Nanette Barragan’s office, Mayor Bass’ office, and Councilmember Tim McOsker’s office.

What To Do With All The Illegal Dumping…

Illegal dumping is exploding throughout the Unincorporated LA County areas of East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez, Willowbrook and the community of Harbor Gateway. We dedicate the very first part of our days simply reporting all the dumping to the various entities. Our efforts have brought attention to many of these areas.

Currently, the City of Los Angeles is prosecuting the illegal dumping. We have been fortunate in catching approximately 61 individuals in the act. Under no circumstances do we attempt to stop the illegal dumping due to the safety issues. We simply video the act, and submit a report using the MYLA311 app.

An Empty Building Is Never A Good Thing.

Buildings along the Union Pacific Railroad areas have become targets for criminal activity. The warehouses located at 400 W Rosecrans are in the process of being demolished. We are trying to work with regional planning so these buildings will not longer pose a threat to our communities.

To report suspicious activity in this area, the South side of Rosecrans along the East side of Figueroa contact Compton Sheriff Station at 310 605 6500.

Non Conforming Vehicle Fire

On Sunday, May 14th, an RV fire or Non Conforming Vehicle was set on fire. There were no injuries or loss of life. This is the first fire we have had since April. We alerted AT&T, Verizon & Spectrum of the fire. The County of Los Angeles, Supervisor Mitchell’s office, LASD HOST Team, HOPICS, & St Joseph’s Center were also notified of the situation. Currently, we have three burned RV’s sitting on our streets longer than 3 months. We are seeing the landlords rebuilding the burned RV’s and renting them out. (Yes, that is factual information).

Please send emails to the following individuals asking for the burned out RV’s to be removed immediately before they are rented again.
