Thank You To My Community.

Thank you to those community members who took the time to nominate my for Hero of The Week with KNX News. It is an honor to represent Harbor Gateway North, our Unincorporated LA County areas of East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez, Willowbrook and City of Gardena. Every positive step forward is helping to reshape our neighborhoods.

What To Do With All The Illegal Dumping…

Illegal dumping is exploding throughout the Unincorporated LA County areas of East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez, Willowbrook and the community of Harbor Gateway. We dedicate the very first part of our days simply reporting all the dumping to the various entities. Our efforts have brought attention to many of these areas.

Currently, the City of Los Angeles is prosecuting the illegal dumping. We have been fortunate in catching approximately 61 individuals in the act. Under no circumstances do we attempt to stop the illegal dumping due to the safety issues. We simply video the act, and submit a report using the MYLA311 app.

Leaking Water Mains, Compromised Fire Hydrants…

Leaking water mains, compromised fire hydrants are impacting the safety throughout the Unincorporated LA County areas of East Gardena, West Rancho Dominguez & Willowbrook. Please do your part by reporting these issues to Golden State Water by calling

An Empty Building Is Never A Good Thing.

Buildings along the Union Pacific Railroad areas have become targets for criminal activity. The warehouses located at 400 W Rosecrans are in the process of being demolished. We are trying to work with regional planning so these buildings will not longer pose a threat to our communities.

To report suspicious activity in this area, the South side of Rosecrans along the East side of Figueroa contact Compton Sheriff Station at 310 605 6500.

Non Conforming Vehicle Fire

On Sunday, May 14th, an RV fire or Non Conforming Vehicle was set on fire. There were no injuries or loss of life. This is the first fire we have had since April. We alerted AT&T, Verizon & Spectrum of the fire. The County of Los Angeles, Supervisor Mitchell’s office, LASD HOST Team, HOPICS, & St Joseph’s Center were also notified of the situation. Currently, we have three burned RV’s sitting on our streets longer than 3 months. We are seeing the landlords rebuilding the burned RV’s and renting them out. (Yes, that is factual information).

Please send emails to the following individuals asking for the burned out RV’s to be removed immediately before they are rented again.

How We Spend Our Days….

We are not your ordinary Chamber of Commerce. We are having to tackles the issues that most chambers would not touch. We are having to literally create new resources to find quick solutions.

On Monday, we had an overdose in the blue RV. The female that passed away died on our streets in a rented RV. According to Fire Station 95, this is becoming the norm in our area. They are responding to these Medical Emergencies on a daily basis. Once the body was removed from the vehicle, the vehicle was left on the street. This is the third incident involving drugs in the last month. We notified the Sheriff’s HOST team, St Joseph’s Center, and HOPICS so they could contact the caseworker. The caseworker could then assist law enforcement with contacting next of kin.
